I don’t think we will ever master the “technique” of preaching. The challenges and the thrill of having a word from God for the people is always there. I try to go over my sermon line by line and ask myself, Do I really believe this? Is this what I believe with all my soul?
One of the men in our church paid me a real compliment. He said, “Preacher, I like you because you seem to be listening to what you are saying.” I get the idea that a lot of preachers are not listening to what they are saying. A lot of the old spiritual words are becoming empty because they are worn out. A calling from God is to be pursued with all your heart. I’m so thankful that this is what He let me do with my life.
